5th & M Street Condos
The 5th and M Street Condos are a 30,000 SF housing facility in downtown Anchorage, adjacent to Elderberry Park - a prime residential site: downtown neighborhood with breathtaking panorama of the inlet and easy access to the Coastal Trail.
The design amplifies the experience afforded by the site, yet detailed as an envelope that protects the interior space from the northern climate.
The building has a semi-basement and three residential floors. The basement accommodates private garages and storage, and equipment spaces. The residential floors host two-story condominiums at the first levels, and urban "flat" units at the top level.
The structure is steel framed to allow freedom of design. The building has several large openings, custom sized windows, and cutouts. The façade is a dialogue among different elements and materials: corrugated metal, red and yellow EIFS, sandblasted cast-in-place concrete.
Amenities include a common roof garden which is fully accessible by both stair towers and elevator and the surrounding site is enhanced with landscaping and has a fully heated concrete paver pad throughout.
